Within our hand dyed yarn Collection is our new range of 4 PLY Yarn UK. This is mostly British wool spun in Yorkshire and hand dyed in small batches in Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK. All yarn is hand dyed with ethically sourced natural dyes, there are no exceptions! Occasionally, undyed 4 PLY yarn is also available for you to dye yourself.
What is 4 PLY Yarn or Wool in the UK
Traditionally, 4 ply weight yarn refers to yarn created by twisting together four individual strands (plies) of thinner yarn. This plying process makes the yarn stronger than a single strand of similar thickness. Also known as sock weight or fingering weight, are the perfect weight for socks, lightweight garments and accessories.
We aim to always have a number of different Hand Dyed Yarn bases available and currently they include, Corriedale Mohiar, BLF NEP, BFL, BFL Gotland and Masham, Merino Kid Mohair and others.
