Keeping Bugs Away from Alfresco Dining and Entertainment
Its March and its still cold in the UK but before the end of the month, it will be offically Spring (20th March) and on 31st March, the clocks go forward to British Summer Time. The lighter evenings and hopefully warmer evenings will mean alfresco dining and entertainment. But how to keep those annoying bugs away from your food and drink?
Citronella candles will help to keep bugs away during alfresco outdoor family meals. Citronella candles are a popular non-toxic type of outdoor candle, known for their unique fragrance and insect-repellent properties.
In these days of chemical and spray type repellents, citronella candles are a natural option to repel flies and insects and to allow you to enjoy your alfresco summer days and evenings as bug free as possible.
Citronella candles contain citronella oil, an essential oil that is extracted from the leaves and stems of the citronella plant (Cymbopogon nardus or Cymbopogon winterianus). Citronella oil has a strong, lemony scent that is effective at repelling mosquitoes and other insects. So keep your outdoor spaces bug-free and enjoy the outdoors with our Citronella candles.
Citronella Candle for Indoors
Citronella candles can be used indoors but that is not what they are designed for.
Although the lemongrass scents are pleasant, citronella candles tend to have a slightly more smokey burn than ordinary candles. Outdoors this is not a problem but not so great for using indoors. It is also said that pets don't like the smokey scents! So yes, citronella candles can be burned indoors but do take some precautions to keep your home or rooms well ventilated.
However, there is an element of personal preference to this question. Our experience and recommendation is not to burn these candles indoors due to the smokiness - they really are designed to be burned outdoors.
