"Ar Lan y Môr" (Beside the Sea or By the Sea) is a popular, traditional Welsh folk song - it is also a love song about a girl named Elin. It was first published in the Journal of the Welsh Folk-Song Society in 1937. Since that time, it has been sung by many famous singers including in more recent times, Aled Jones, Ar Log, Bryn Terfel, Dafydd Iwan, Elin Fflur, Endaf Emlyn, Max Boyce, Only Men aloud and Katherine Jenkins to name just a few! Plus a few male Voice Choirs!
There often are different versions of the words in these old songs such as Ar Lan y Môr but the original words are included below. This is a love song but the composer (or composers) of the melody and the lyrics is unknown.

Down by the sea red roses are blooming; Down where the sea laps at the flat rock By the seaside are blue stones Full the sea of sand and billows Fair the sun at new day’s dawning |
