    Craft Course - Combined 2 Day

    Learn the hand dyeing process with natural dyes in the rural SA37 postcode area of Pembrokeshire near to the villages of Boncath and Crymych and the coastal towns of Newport and Cardigan in West Wales.

    This two-day craft course will introduce you to hand dyeing with botanical dyes using protein fibres – (animal fibres) wool, alpaca, yak, silk, and cellulose fibres – (plant fibres) cotton, linen, bamboo, hemp. This is an introduction or refresher workshop which will provide you with the core skills needed for you to build upon and develop in your own time. Using a range of ancient natural plant dye extracts you will explore the process of using natural dyes.

    Learn the hand dyeing process with natural dyes in the rural SA37 postcode area of Pembrokeshire near to the villages of Boncath and Crymych and the coastal towns of Newport and Cardigan in West Wales. After booking your course, we provide a map with directions of how to find us!

    • Expert tuition by Tutor, as featured in the Knitter magazine
    • One Tutor and a maximum number of five students. 
    • 6 hours of guided tuition. Guided tuition on the basic principles and practice of natural dyeing using, for example, madder, cutch, logwood and others. 
    • Your Tutor will take you through the practical steps of natural dyeing from start to finish as well as creating the foundations for more advanced processes.
    • After the theory part, the practical hands-on bit where you can hand dye yarn or cellulose fibres yourself.
    • The workshop includes all the necessary materials, including yarn, cellulose fibres and equipment.

    You will take away from the workshop a number of skeins of yarn or cellulose fibres that you have personally dyed. You will also have your Dye Journal Notebook and a file of information covering what you have learnt during the day.

    The one and two-day craft courses introduce you to hand dyeing with natural dyes using protein fibres – (animal fibres) wool, yak etc or cellulose fibres – (plant fibres) cotton, linen, bamboo etc. The workshops are held in a professional, purpose designed Dye Studio.

    These are introduction or refresher workshops which will provide you with the core skills needed for you to build upon and develop in your own time. Using a range of ancient natural plant dye extracts you will explore the process of using natural dyes.

    We guarantee to hold each course irrespective of the number of students unless there is some unavoidable reason to cancel.

    Cancellations by Government

    We will refund you in full if the Government requires us to cancel/postpone a workshop for whatever reason.

    Cancellations by You

    If you cancel your booking:

    1. Within 14 days of the original booking, we will refund the full course fee. 
    2. Less than one week before the workshop, no refund is available. (Subject to point one above).
    3. A 'No-show' on the day with no notice is not refundable
    4. More than two weeks but less than eight weeks before the workshop, if we are able to resell your place, we offer refund of the workshop fee less an administrative fee of £25.
    5. Over eight weeks before the workshop, we will refund in full.
    6. If you decide to postpone your booking to a later date, the dates referred to in points 1 to 5 above apply to the original booking date. 

    We maintain a ‘waiting list’ for all workshops and will aim to replace any cancellation with another student.

    Cancellations by Us

    We do not cancel workshops for any reason except entirely unavoidable events such as if the Workshop Tutor is physically unable to teach the workshop through sickness or injury or extreme weather conditions. Should we have to cancel a workshop, students will be offered an alternative workshop date or a full refund. If a workshop is cancelled by us, we regret that we will not accept responsibility for travel, accommodation or any other related expenses. Our Refund Policy.
