Knitting Needle Sizes Old and New
Our knitting needles size chart is a handy reference tool to convert knitting needle sizes between different measurement systems. Most modern knitting patterns in the UK and Europe use the metric number sizes, measured in millimetres (mm) for all knitting needles. The higher the number, the larger the thickness of the needles. In the USA, needle sizes start at 0 and increase upwards. Zero is the smallest size knitting needle, in metric a 2mm needle.

In our experience, there is no easy way to remember these different numbers and letters other than by using them in your knitting and crochet projects!
