Yarn with Provenance is a Collection of UK yarns, hand dyed and undyed, with complete provenance. Every yarn is fully traceable to farms and farmers where the sheep lived and grazed the fields. The provenance of our yarn and the treatment of the farm animals is important to us. Yarn with Provenance achieves this with full traceability together with high standards of animal welfare. Hand Dyed Yarns - Natural Dye

Our hand dyed yarn is made in small batches from the finest UK wool together with some specialty fibres. All are hand dyed with natural dyes only, there are no exceptions!

• luxury wool and yarn sourced in the UK with some local Welsh yarn and specialty fibres. All yarn in the Wooltrace Collection has complete provenance and is fully traceable.
• natural dyes, natural dyes from plants, all ethically produced and sourced.
• plastic free, eco-friendly packaging and carbon neutral shipping.

Hand Dyed Yarn - Natural Dye Process

By using quality natural fibre and sourcing ethically produced natural dyes, we are able to produce beautiful hand dyed yarn. The colours from natural dyed yarn are enthralling. Hand dyed yarns may be repeated but they can never be exactly the same. The natural dyeing process will depend on where the dyestuff was grown, how and when it was harvested, the fibres being dyed, and the method of application we use.
