What is a Vegan Candle?
A vegan candle does not contain any animal-derived ingredients and is cruely free - not tested hi on animals. This includes the wax, wick and fragrance but also any dyes and other additives.

- plant-based waxes such as soy wax or a soy and coconut blended wax.
- fragrances with no dyes, colourants or any additives.
- wood wicks or eco-friendly, lead-free, braided cotton wicks.
Benefits of Vegan Candles
- They are healthier. Vegan friendly candles do not contain harmful chemicals or toxins, such as phthalates, which are often found in traditional paraffin candles.
- They smell great. Vegan candles come in a variety of fragrances, so you can find one that you love.
- Environmentally friendly: Vegan candles are made from renewable resources, and they do not contribute to deforestation or harm wildlife.
- Animal-friendly: Vegan candles are cruelty-free and do not use any animal-derived ingredients.
- Long-lasting: Vegan candles typically burn for longer than traditional candles because plant-based waxes have a lower melting point, which means they burn slower.
Different Types of Candle Wax - Are they Vegan?
Paraffin Wax
Paraffin wax is the most common type of wax used in candles because it is inexpensive, easy to work with, and produces a clean burn. Paraffin wax is often mixed with stearic acid to harden the wax and increase the burning time. Stearic acid is usually sourced from animals, making the candle non-vegan.
We do not use paraffin wax in any of our candles.
Beeswax
Beeswax has many positive attributes such as it is a renewable and sustainable resource, and it doesn’t soot or release harmful chemicals when burned. However, beeswax is not vegan.
We do not use beeswax in any of our candles.
Plant Based Vegan Waxes
Coconut wax
Coconut wax is a natural, sustainable, and biodegradable wax made from coconut oil. It is a hard wax with a high melting point, making it ideal for candles. They are also free of toxins and carcinogens, making them a healthier choice.
Soy wax
Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. It is a renewable and sustainable resource, and it is biodegradable. Soy wax is also non-toxic and hypoallergenic, making it a safe choice for people with allergies or sensitivities.

We are a modern-day candle chandler, hand pouring soy wax candles using traditional methods and skills but also other fragrance items such as reed diffusers and wax melts. Our vegan candles are cruelty free and made from sustainable and renewable plant-based candle waxes.

It is always important to treat your candles safely and with care. Please note the follow candle care advice...
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Place candles on a stable surface away from flammable objects.
- Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
- Extinguish candles before going to bed or leaving the house.
- Do not place candles too close together.
