. Passionate about textiles? Ever wanted to dye your own yarn with natural products that are kind to the earth? At Felin Fach, situated in a renovated outbuilding of a 200-year-old former flour mill in Pembrokeshire, you can learn the beautiful heritage craft skill of hand dyeing protein fibres, such as sheep wool, alpaca, yak and silk or cellulose plant fibres such as cotton, linen, hemp and bamboo. All using traditional, natural dyes. You will leave your course with the knowledge to successfully dye yarn and fabrics with lasting colour to use in your projects at home, using only natural dyes.
Their courses range from a half-day taster which is £75, one day (protein or cellulose fibres) which is £125 or two days, combing both protein and cellulose fibres, which is £250. For 2022, courses run from February to November and are listed on the website. All course materials are included, all you need to bring is a packed lunch!
FelinFach make a range of hand dyed yarns and scarves, dyed with natural dyes only, using a combination of different dye techniques. For example, immersion dyeing, hand painted and printed, shibori and various indigo vats. FelinFach design Welsh blankets which are hand woven for us in the remaining Welsh mills and have recently introduced our own range of hand poured candles, diffusers, tealights and wax melts. All are made in our Chandlery Studio in Pembrokeshire". Article ends.
