FelinFach is an independent Welsh company based at a 200 year old former flour mill in the rural, mountainous and Welsh speaking Preseli, Pembrokeshire, Wales in the UK. The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park was established in 1952 and still is the UK’s only coastal National Park. It may be one of the UK’s smallest National Parks at about 230 square miles but it is certainly one of the longest. The National Park includes 180 miles of breath-taking scenery of the Pembrokeshire coastline from Amroth in the south to St Dogmaels in the north as well as all of its offshore islands but it also includes the historic Preseli mountain range.
FelinFach means "the little mill" in Welsh. In a workshop in the grounds of the 200 year former flour mill, FelinFach Handmade Textiles individually designs and makes handmade quilts, throws, blankets, cushions, bedding and other soft furnishings. We aim, where we can, to use Welsh woollen fabrics traditionally made in local wool mills in Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire using traditional looms and skills. We use the wool from sheep on the farms that surround us, including certified organic Welsh wool. The source of all our collections is described for each product, sometimes with pictures of the sheep that grew the wool. We like to know our sheep!
We do also use wool from quality rare-breed sheep throughout the UK but all our wool is woven in local Welsh mills. We complement our welsh wool with traditionally made linen from Northern Ireland and fabrics such as Welsh heritage Elanbach and Liberty of London.
We believe that the origin and environmentally sustainability of our raw materials are important. We are trying to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum and we source our materials as local as possible. We also use organic materials wherever possible and all our packaging materials are 100% recyclable. This makes sense to us both environmentally but also commercially.
Nothing is mass produced at FelinFach. No two products will ever be exactly the same even if they have the same design, because they are handmade! But we see that as part of the beauty of an individually handmade product.
