The blades - handmade at Hasegawa Cutlery, Seki City, Gifu Prefecture. One of Japan's leading cutlery towns founded in 1933. The light and stable cutting edge is made of durable and rust-resistant Japanese stainless steel.

The shears are handmade not machine produced. There are individual differences in each piece, but as always this is the beauty of the handmade product in today's mass-produced machine finish.
Each set of shears comes in a leather case with gilt tassels, protected by a cloth wrap which is also a polishing cloth.
