  • Hand Dyed Yarn - UK Yarn - British Wool - Natural Dyes

Our hand dyed yarn is naturally dyed in Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK. We dye all our own hand dyed yarn and do not source dyed yarn or 'buy it in' from external suppliers. We have been an Official Supporter of the Campaign for many years. We aim to support UK and Welsh farmers by sourcing our yarn from the UK. Our Welsh Yarn Collection is sourced and spun in mills in Wales. Our Yarn with Provenance Collection comprises UK yarns that are fully traceable to the farmers and farms where the sheep lived and grazed the fields. Naturally hand dyed wool and yarn, eco-friendly and supporting British farmers.

    Undyed Yarns

Not everyone wants their yarn to be dyed. You may want the natural colours of the fleece in your project, or you may wish to dye yarn yourself. Our Undyed Yarn Collection has a variety of UK undyed yarns in different breeds, weights and sizes.

    Knitting Needle Conversion Chart

Most modern knitting patterns in the UK and Europe use the metric number sizes, measured in millimetres (mm) for all knitting needles. The higher the number, the larger the thickness of the needles. In the USA, needle sizes start at 0 and increase upwards. Zero is the smallest size knitting needle, in metric a 2mm needle. (Needle Conversion Chart)

    Eco-Friendly

Our website is a 'Net Zero Website' - all emissions created by this website are offset by trees we have planted on a daily basis. Our FelinFach forest is growing in partnership with Tree Nation. We minimise our environmental impact using on-site natural water sources in the dyeing process. All our yarn for sale is shipped in packaging that is plastic free, biodegradable and home compostable.

    Natural Dye Workshops

Learn how to hand dye protein fibres (animal fibres such as sheep wool, alpaca, yak and silk) or cellulose fibres (plant fibres such as cotton, linen, hemp and bamboo) using natural dyes. These natural dye workshops are a hands-on learning experience using ancient natural dyes such as Madder, Weld, and Cochineal, to name a few, in their natural form as well as extract.  You will leave with the knowledge to successfully dye yarn and fabrics with lasting colour to use in your projects at home.
