How to Use Wax Melts - 7 Tips

Wax melts have become increasingly popular in the world of home fragrance, providing a safe and convenient alternative to traditional candles. These relatively small, scented blocks of wax are designed to be melted slowly to release their aromas and fragrances. They are also a more affordable option than candles, as a single wax melt can last for several hours.

Eco-friendly and sustainable products are important to us and that is why we choose soy wax (or other plant-based waxes) for our wax melts. All our wax melts are handmade, and hand poured by us at our FelinFach Studio in Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK.

Whether you're a seasoned wax melt enthusiast or new to the concept, understanding how to use wax melts effectively can enhance your sensory experience and create an inviting atmosphere in your home. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use a wax melt.

7 Tips on How to Use a Wax Melt

    • Choose a Wax Melt

Wax melts come in various shapes, sizes, and fragrances. Select a wax melt that appeals to your preferences. There are many options available, ranging from floral and fruity fragrances to earthy and seasonal aromas.

    • Select a Wax Warmer

A wax warmer is a device designed to melt wax melts safely and release their fragrance into the air. There are different types of warmers available, including electric warmers and tea light-powered warmers. Choose one that suits your needs.  All our Wax Melts Burners require an unscented tealight to warm the wax melts. A tealight and wax melt together combines the convenience of a wax melt with the flame flickering ambience of a tealight.

    • Prepare the Wax Warmer

If you're using an electric wax warmer, plug it into a suitable outlet and switch it on. For tea light-powered warmers, place an unscented tea light candle in the designated compartment and light it.

    • Place the Wax Melt

Remove the wax melt from its packaging and place it on the wax warmer's dish or bowl. Ensure that the dish is clean and free from any residual wax.

    • Warm the Wax

Allow the wax warmer to heat up and melt the wax slowly. As the wax melts, it will release its fragrance into the room. Be patient and avoid rushing the process by turning up the heat too high, as it may diminish the fragrance or cause the wax to evaporate quickly.

    • Enjoy the Fragrance

Once the wax has melted, the fragrance will permeate the air. Enjoy the pleasant aroma that fills your space. Wax melts can provide several hours of fragrance, depending on the brand and the size of the melt.

    • Replacing and Cleaning

Over time, the wax melt will lose its fragrance. When you're ready to replace it, allow the wax to cool and solidify. You can then remove the wax from the warmer either by gently tapping it or by using a spoon to scoop it out. Dispose of the used wax properly. If there is any residual wax left in the dish, you can clean it with a paper towel or a cloth once it has cooled down.

Lastly, one of the advantages of wax melts is the ability to mix and match fragrances. If you have multiple wax melts or cubes, you can try combining different scents to create your own custom fragrance blends. This experimentation can help you find unique and personalised aromas for your home. Enjoy the delightful fragrances and ambience that wax melts can bring to your living space!
