Pembrokeshire to the World
FelinFach is an independent Welsh company. It is based at a 200 year old former flour mill in the Preseli mountain area of Pembrokeshire, Wales, in the UK. FelinFach designs traditionally woven Welsh blankets and the iconic Welsh tapestry blankets which are woven in local mills It also makes hand-dyed yarn and other fabrics such as cotton and silk scarves. All are made with natural botanical plant-based colours and extracts in the FelinFach Dye Studio.
FelinFach offers free UK shipping on all but the smallest of items by weight. International shipping is subsided. All shipping is on a tracked and signed for basis with choices of the level of insurance required for the parcel.
FelinFach ships overseas at subsidised rates and has shipped goods to over twenty countries on almost every continent on the planet. These countries range from Norway and Alaska in the North to the Falklands and New Zealand in the South.
Currently, a significant amount of FelinFach's sales are international and they are mostly going to the USA and Canada. Lately and for the first time, FelinFach has shipped a parcel to a new customer in the state of Alaska in the USA and to the country of Greece. Perhaps some of the more interesting or unusual places that have received FelinFach parcels would include, the Falkland Islands, the Welsh settlements of Patagonia (Argentina) in South America and Dubai. We were informed that our blanket is being used as a wall hanging in Dubai as it is too hot there to put on a bed!
Apart from our new customers in Alaska and Greece, FelinFach has added the country of China to it automatic shipping calculator. There are now approx. sixty countries in the automatic shipping calculator. Anybody in a country that is not in the automatic shipping calculator and wishing to purchase an item from FelinFach currently must ask for a customised quote. We are adding new countries to the shipping calculator to make this a more streamlined process.
Promote Wales, Promote Love, Celebrate St Dwynwen's Day. St Dwynwen's Day is Wales' St Valentine’s Day, celebrated on 25th January and is the most romantic day in the Welsh calendar year. It is celebrated with the giving and receiving of cards and presents and by saying "I Love you" in Welsh, "Rwy'n dy garu di".
In the Welsh village of Cwm Gwaun (the Gwaun valley), near Fishguard in Wales, locals are keeping old traditions alive by celebrating the New Year, known as Hen Galan and Calennig, 13 days after everyone else. Back in the 1700s, the people of Cwm Gwaun used the Julian calendar and still do. New Years Eve is on 13th January!!!
