Two-Day Course

Welcoming a new group to the FelinFach Dye Studio for a two day course - 27th/28th July. Still a couples of places left.

Start your natural dyeing journey here! Learn how to hand dye protein fibres (animal fibres such as sheep wool, alpaca, yak and silk) or cellulose fibres (plant fibres such as cotton, linen, hemp and bamboo) using traditional natural dyes. Expert tuition in a professional, purpose designed dye studio environment.

The craft courses are a hands-on learning experience using ancient natural dyes such as Madder, Weld, and Cochineal, to name a few, in their natural form as well as extract.  You will leave with the knowledge to successfully dye yarn and fabrics with lasting colour to use in your projects at home, using only natural dyes.

What to Expect

• expert tuition in a professional, purpose designed dye studio environment - Course Tutor, As Featured in the Knitter Magazine, click here...
• experience six hours (10.00am to 4.00pm) per day of guided tuition on hand dyeing using natural dyes. 
• go you through the basic principles and practice of natural dyeing using, for example, madder, cutch, logwood and others. 
• understand the practical  steps of natural dyeing from start to finish as well as creating the foundations for more advanced processes

All equipment is provided and you will take away skeins of yarn of various sizes that you have personally dyed. You also will have a Dye Journal Notebook to record your recipes and and a file of information covering what you have learnt during the day.
