We're going on a 'busman's holiday' soon to a wool festival called Woolfest in Cumbria as a punter not a trader, to see what going on there! Apparently it was founded to provide a showcase and a celebration of the best of wool and wool crafts in the North West of England in the Lake District. It's on the 28th and 29th of June. Apparently you can buy everything from a raw fleece to a spinning wheel!
The website looks good and its says that it is an event all about creativity and design with beautiful quality, amazing colours and skilled craftsmanship and this was recognised in 2012 when Woolfest won the Cumbria Tourism Award for Event of the Year.
Woolfest offers (per their website) a showcase of talents, a wealth of advice, a bank of knowledge, a treat for the senses and a treasure trove of natural fibres. Whatever your wool interests – Woolfest is for you. It attracts more than 5000 visitors each year and the usual reaction to Woolfest is very simple ... WOW. We'll keep you in touch as to how it goes.
