Welsh Tapestry Blankets - Hiraeth Collection
OurWelsh tapestry blanketsare part of the ‘Hiraeth’ Collection and nothing says Hiraeth more than an iconic Welsh tapestry blanket. The tapestry blankets are Welsh textiles at their absolute best. Hiraeth is a Welsh concept of longing for home, which can be loosely translated as 'nostalgia', or, more commonly, 'homesickness'. Many claim 'hiraeth' is a word which cannot be translated, meaning more than solely "missing something" or "missing home."
Caernarfon Portcullis Pattern
Many of our Welsh Blankets a designed in part of the Caernarfon portcullis pattern that looks similar to portcullis gates in Welsh castles. In this example is a red, black, and white wool Caernarfon pattern Welsh tapestry blanket, woven on a Dobcross loom using skills and techniques that go back over 100 years.
The Caernarfon Portcullis design in geometric patterns, is among the most iconic Welsh patterns - nothing says hiraeth more than an iconic Welsh Tapestry Blanket.
Treftadaeth - Heritage Collection
OurTreftadaeth Collectionis a celebration of Welsh heritage, either in remembrance of an event or a person that shaped the Country we have become. It also celebrates Wales’ woollen industry, textiles and weaving history.
This Collection will include Welsh wool blankets and throws that are woven using fleece sourced within Wales - Welsh textiles through and through. FelinFach buys the whole clip from the smallholding and the process from this fleece to our blanket or throw is completed in Wales - each blanket or throw will have a provenance proving it is a genuine Welsh Product from ‘fleece to throw’. Each product will be individually numbered together with its ‘vintage’, the year the sheep were clipped. The blankets will be in the natural colour of the fibre and on occasion we may add a small amount of colour to the design.

What's the difference between a blanket and a throw?
Blankets and throws are often used to describe similar products. Blankets tend to be larger than throws and more often, used a bed covers for warmth. Throws are often used in living rooms to provide decoration - strategically draped over sofas and chairs.
Our website is dedicated to Welsh Textiles be they blankets, throws, cushions, scarves, purses and other items. When an item is not made in Wales, it will not claim to be so made. Examples are books, magazines and notions from Cocoknits and Cohana made in the rest of of the UK or abroad. Welsh textiles are part of our fabric (sorry about the pun).
